Call Me Brian

Maitreya

Growing up the first born son in a South Asian family, I got used to being quite the little prince. I wanted the privileges of primogeniture to carry on forever. When people asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I responded with the full spectrum of acceptable answers: Doctor! Lawyer! Accountant! Dentist! Quantity Surveyor! Secretly, though, I wanted to be a prince. From what I saw of the British royal family, it seemed a job that involved a great deal of adulation, cash, and cars, and not terribly much work.

I mention this because recently a trickle, and then a flood, of email has come asking me whether I’m Maitreya – the leader of a movement that might be able to save the planet from itself. Some swift Googling and dipping into strange forums informs me that Maitreya is a leader foretold in a range of religions. Those who think that I might be the new prince of peace have been reading things from Share International.

So what, according to Share International, does Maitreya do? Through a doctrine of sharing, fraternity, social justice and cooperation, he (and it does seem to be a he, not a she) brings humanity back from economic and ecological collapse through new forms of spiritual community.

As it happens, I do think that sharing, fraternity, justice and cooperation are terrific things. I also think that prioritising the needs of the poor, hungry and oppressed is a non-negotiable part of a sustainable future. There are other similarities. The picture of Maitreya above shows the Buddhist avatar holding a water bottle, and I’m never far from mine. Apparently, stuttering is the mark of something esoteric, though I’m not entirely sure what that is. Finally, just as foretold, I did indeed fly from India to London in 1977, although the plane ride was a return trip from a holiday with my family.

Unfortunately, from I think that’s where the resemblances end. It frustrates me only a little less than it might disappoint those looking for Maitreya that, in fact, I’m just an ordinary bloke. I always wanted to be a Prince of Something. But when opportunity comes knocking, it turns out it’s to get me to sign for a package for some other dude.

It’s sad, too, that the thinking I advocate is pretty straightforward. One doesn’t need a messiah to show how capitalism has damaged our relationships, society, ecology, body politic and future. We have to reclaim it through grassroots organizing against capital, a commitment to human rights, gender equality, redistribution, and shared democratic control of the world’s resources. It’s like the end of The Meaning of Life (skip to 4:17) in which, finally, the meaning of life is revealed to be

try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in, and try and live together in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.

But that’s not the Monty Python scene that most immediately comes to mind. Instead, it’s this rather good bit from The Life of Brian, one that Python (Monty) productions granted me leave to quote from in my last book, Stuffed and Starved, and which I still think contains all one needs to know about how we need to create social change together.

Sadly, I’m not the Messiah. I’m just a very naughty boy.

  1. Oh, if only it were true. But alas, Benjamin Creme’s own writing say that Meitreya lives as a Pakistani in London and goes by a Moslem name. As far as I know, Patel is an Indian name. On his website Raj Patel states his family is Indian. So if Meitreys has come forward it must be as someone else. As an author, I’m sure all the attention being lavished on Raj Patel by you guys is only helping to accomplish one thing – help him sell his books!

Ummm, did anyone bother to do any basic research on this guy before you proclaimed him Maitreya???

  2. Hi Raj,

I appreciate all the good work you’ve done and I believe in the values you stand for.

As for all the rabid Christian fundies out there who are screaming for Raj’s head on the guillotine, maybe this story is instructive:

‘The Buddha explained how to handle insult and maintain compassion.
‘One day Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him. “You have no right teaching others,” he shouted. “You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake.”
‘Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man “Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?”
The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, “It would belong to me, because I bought the gift.”
‘The Buddha smiled and said, “That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself.”
‘”If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy.”
‘The young man listened closely to these wise words of the Buddha. “You are right, o Enlightened One, “he said. “Please teach me the path of love. I wish to become your follower.”
‘The Buddha answered kindly, “Of course. I teach anyone who truly wants to learn. Come with me.”‘

  3. Raj means King, Raj you are the 4th King, the deceiver, don’t even try to justify yourself, it’s now obvious that whether you are Maitreya or not, you are a not a good guy.

As Amanda said previously, even you don’t want to reply to our comments because you are Maitreya the betrayer, or you take advantage of the situation to do you own promotion.

One or another, you are a crook, your value is nothing…your satanist New World Order is condemned to loose with all your satanist guys. Shame on you!!!

  4. “As for all the rabid Christian fundies out there who are screaming for Raj’s head on the guillotine, maybe this story is instructive”

I haven`t seen one _Christian_ fundie here screaming for Raj`s head. Why don`t you be careful with your blind hate.

  5. @mariam

Don’t exagerate by saying there are only Christian fundies who are denouncing Maitreya!!!

I am not Christian, the religions of today are only labels created to bring divison among humanity. I speak about what this evil society did over centuries to the authentic religion of God, they divided it (muslims, jews, christians…) and they infiltrated its hierarchy to distort its true message.

Today, the most important thing is to believe in one unique God, the creator of the whole universe, the God of Abraham,…, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. The Quran is the last book of revelation and is to be considered by any true believer as an authentic message from God. That’s the only thing that does matter, the rest is only division. This is the only true religion of God, the rest is only perdition and lies.

A true believer of the unique God shall hate nobody, it’s good to denounce false prophets as Raj/Maitreya, but these guys don’t even deserve that we hate them, let just ignore them, Maitreya and his followers want to loose their soul, no problem for that, but don’t try to pass us for extremists!

  6. @mariam
Sorry I misunderstood your claim, actually we say the same thing. There is no hate in our words, but some people here want to label us as fundies.

These guys use the same methods than the current powers in the world, they label any of their oppononents as a terrorist or an extremist.

  7. Let Raj be Raj and wait for whoever gets Islam to let go of the Dome of the Rock to allow the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple.

Then we shall know who the cosmic Christ is, for no land shall go to another religion after it has belonged to Islam.

As for Islam, the Medina and Mecca teachings are said to be one, yet Mecca preaches peace while Medina calls for the death of all who will not become muslims. That is not the god of the Jews nor of the Christians. God is One Father and Son and Holy Ghost. Allah has no son, and therefore cannot be the God of the Christians.

  8. Theosophists have had a mixed if interesting record in proclaiming their World Teacher. Krishnamurti, while groomed from an early age, also refused and disbanded the organization set up from him. However, Krishnamurti still emerged as a great philosopher. So while Raj might not be the Maitreya, he still may have a great and long career of righteous rabble rousing ahead of him.

  9. This video should explain it all
as to WHO the Anti-Christ might be
because the Anti-Christ will be worshipped
by EVERYONE WORLDWIDE in the media on TV,
the Internet, Radio, and Newspapers, etc.

The Anti-Christ will be worshipped as a God
and be liked by so many all over the world!!!
Does Raj Patel fit this description???

I am not saying that Raj Patel does or does not.
Raj Patel seems like a very nice guy with a great idea
to help stop world hunger through sharing, stop violence, and bring unity and peace all over the world!!!
What more can we ask for in this life??

    QUESTION:
What will the Anti-Christ be like? Will he be
well liked for his ideas or will he be hated?

    ANSWER:
The Anti-Christ will be extrememly well liked
in the beginning and then he will turn on
everyone and show his true colors by doing
evil things! BEWARE FOR WE ARE IN THE END TIMES!
THE ANTI-CHRIST IS COMING SOON! WE HAVE TO NOT
ACCEPT THE MARK OF THE BEAST and be close to God.

-The video to make you start to THINK is below: http://en.tackfilm.se/?id=1266705214468RA68

  10. You’re ideas about free markets are misaligned and misguided…Everyone knows you can’t have a free market with a bunch of Marxist Central Bankers pretending to be capitalists by manipulating the money supply, credit interest rates and derivatives/put options of every nation where they have sprouted up…As for being the Matrieya–total bunk along with anything else the United Nations or Mr.Creme comes up with…..

  11. @Al & Bruno

    Extremist? me?

I like your way of thinking …

When someone disagres with you, it’s an extremist, you are just like this existing society, it labels as extremists and terrorists anyone who is a target for the US and its allies.

I have the right to not believe in Raj/Maitreya, you have to the right to believe in him if you want, I am just warning the people according to my point oy view…

Anyway I didn’t expect much more from you

  12. Mashallah I am happy to see so many people trying to verify weather or not this clown actually is the Dajjal or the Maitreya Antichrist. I personally believe that like Krishna Murti this clown is another theosophical society project for a new age messiah or world teacher but i wouldn’t flatter him with saying he is the Dajjal, nothing more then another minor Dajjal i think so far, Allah Knows best, but certainly this guy is most definitely a theosophist and a new age puppet, weather he knows it or not is another story. And all the atheists and New age followers, call me an extremist all you like. I am a former Christian Canadian who converted to Islam, in other words I have an open mind and am capable of accepting I was wrong, so long as logic and reason are involved. I studied many religions as well as occult philosophies and what I say is well grounded on documented evidences that anyone can verify. Its not as if I am just aware of one point of view, I understand many points of view as well including the new age one.

  13. ” Prince Maitreya ” Now that has a nice ring to it I think,,,Don’t you ? Who ever he is πŸ˜‰

  14. Dear Raj,

I find that your desire to be a prince and the trappings that go with it seem to be diametrically opposed to your model of a future sharing ancient greek like democracy. Princes and kings could not be further from the model which you propose. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. I also find with your model that you are really basing it on the concept that people are good, not greedy etc. All models, capitalism, communism have failed because of the human factor, greed. The reason we are in the GFC by my reckoning is not because of the model but because of the human factor of greed. Bad lending practices of the banks, due to greed, not model. People borrowing more than they can possibly pay back, greed. You have have no answer for the human condition, which is at the heart of all our problems. The very trappings which you have readily admitted you like such as the adulation of a prince, cash, fast cars etc that go along with it are the very envyings and covetness of material things that have lead to the current financial situation. So I see in you a contradiction, on one hand great sharing for all humanity and yet on the other you have this desire of being a prince. Go figure!

  15. So two Google searches produce the equivalent of 2 cups of tea worth of Greenhouse gasses eh Raj? I guess you’re on the same side as Al Gore and his global warming/climate change disinformation campaign.

I watched one of your speeches where you expose supermarkets for manipulating the space in order to trick you into buying what isn’t on your shopping list. Sorry to disappoint you, but my junior school teacher already told us about that one many, many years ago. Does that qualify her for becoming the Messiah?

  16. Yeah raj isn’t that keen on capitalism, that’s why his books are free on line, oh sorry my mistake there NOT.

His guy is a socialist (until it comes to sharing his wealth) different wrapping paper new delivery boy same bullshit. He’ll come close to his utopia with the help of his little Rajeev freaks that follow him. But he will fail.

Just look at his face book one person asked β€œhow should I raise my children. β€œOh please next there will be a photo of one of his freaks in a pair of jeans asking β€œraj dose my bum look big in this”

Hey raj, still can’t say the four words can you I AM NOT MAITREYA

There are people watching to see if you are maitreya but don’t get too cocky, there not watching so that they can embrace you or your plan, oh say hi to Van Jones 4 me. http://www.michigancitizen.com/default.asp?sourceid=&smenu=77&twindow=Default&mad=No&sdetail=7808&wpage=1&skeyword=&sidate=&ccat=&ccatm=&restate=&rest

Here’s some bed time reading by RAJEEV PATEL & PHILIP MCMICHAEL

Third World Quarterly, Vol 25, No 1, pp 231–254, 2004
    RAJEEV PATEL & PHILIP MCMICHAEL

We modify the term β€˜fascism’ with β€˜global’. This we do for a number of reasons.
We do not claim that the tendencies we see at work from the early days of the
development project to contemporary developmentalism replicate exactly the
features of mid-1930s and –1940s Germany, Italy and Japan. Although, as
Gourevitch notes, important features of Nazi Germany were present in the
policies of other states at the time, we readily acknowledge the historic
specificity of this period.7 What we attempt to do, however, is to broker a
conversation between two different kinds of heterodox approaches to development

    http://rajpatel.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/ThirdWorldQuarterlypatelmcmichael2004.pdf

Yes it’s the same raj. At the bottom of the first page 231 it has Rajeev Patel is at Food First/the Institute for Food and Development Policy

Just copy and Google and see who pops up.

  17. Benny said β€œThe way prepared by His Herald the β€˜star’, Maitreya, the World Teacher, has given His first interview on American television. Millions have heard Him speak both on TV and the internet”.

He didn’t say his first ever interview he said His first interview on American television.

His first interview on American television.
His first interview on American television.
Again His first interview on American television. We know raj has done interviews before but this was his first on AMERICAN TELEVISION.

  18. Seriously, go and listen to Creme, ‘for the first time EVER he appeared PHYSICALLY etc on the Television and the INTERNET – that is the first time such an event has EVER happened. Can you imagine what this means?’. This whole proposition is meaningless using your interpretation. There would be no import to the statement that he appeared physically for the first time if this meant that it was the first time he appeared physically in the US. Patently ridiculous.

  19. The “World Teacher” term has been around throughout the ages, because these people have copied and mimicked Jesus Christ.

The Theosophical Society’s beliefs and teachings have been that lucifer is the “light-Bearer” and the true Messiah who came from the planet Venus and came as a sacrafice to save man kind.

This is what Blavatsky taught and she has a very wide range of followers, such as Annie Besant, Alice Bailey (who founded the United Nations, along with her husband Foster Bailey, whose publishing company was named after lucifer “Lucifer Publishing Co” which name later changed to Lucis Trust”

Helena Blavatsky said that she had contact with so-called “Ascended Masters” who she later identified as Master Morya….Master Djwhal Khul….Master Koot Hoomi . After making these claims, she was later found to be a FRAUD through an investigation conducted in β€œThe Hodgson Report” which stated β€œvarious inconsistencies, misrepresentations, and provable falsehoods” and called Blavatsky an β€œimposter”.

Blavatsky had many other so-called “ascended masters” as well, she claims that Jsesus Christ is also one of her Ascended masters.

Blavatsky also kept the illusions and lies going through various people such as Benjamin Creme, who is another follower of hers. Creme has his OWN “World Teacher” called the “Maitreya” and passes him off as the NEXT Messiah (This is what these people have done thoughout history, they pick someone whom they can manipulate, they groom them and they put them off as someone they are not. And, they FLAT OUT LIE. It is a deception that has been going on for MANY years). In this case, maitreya is Creme’s illusion, just as Blavatsky had her illusions.

Creme is getting VERY old and is on his last leg and probably going to die soon, and since his maitreya is not manifesting himself as Creme claimed back in 1982 in a publisized newspaper article, Creme is getting VERY desperate and now has to find someone ELSE to hold the position as maitreya, so he has picked a new candidate and people have JUMPED on the bandwagon once again.

And the new man for the job is Raj Patel who Benjamin Creme is now portraying as the “World teacher” of our day.. I wonder WHO will be next?

Remember Jiddu Krishnamurti, he was born on 11 May 1895 in Madanapalle, a small town in south India. He and his brother were adopted in their youth by Dr Annie Besant, then president of the Theosophical Society. Dr Besant and others proclaimed that Krishnamurti was to be a “world teacher” whose coming the Theosophists had FRAUDULENTLY predicted, to prepare the world for this coming, a world-wide organization called the Order of the Star in the East was formed and the young Krishnamurti was made its head.

What people DON’T understand is that Besant was a ALSO student of Helena Blavatsky. Besant found Krisnamurti on a beach as a child and STOLED him from his own family. She petitioned the court for his adoption and basically legally kidnapped him, and for the rest of his life, he was groomed by the Theosophical Society to be the “World Teacher” and was taught occult belief. He was NO MORE the IMPOSTER “World Teacher” then this guy Patel is. The ONLY “teacher” is JESUS CHRIST!

SAME THING is happening here with Patel. WHY are people giving TOO MUCH CREDIT to Creme? He is nothing but a MASTER DECEIVER, just like Blavatsky was. Creme is NOT GOD! NOTHING he says is truth, therefore he should be discredited for EVERYTHING he says and does. he is NOTHING, NO ONE. His words are NOTHING. And yet, people would rather believe a LIE, Just as it says in the Bible!

  20. Totally agree Queeny. My only point is that even if you take Cremes words as meaning something, when you look at this Patel character properly the assumption makes no sense. Patel has written a couple of books essentially based on Marxism. Take the words of John Lennon’s song ‘Imagine’ and regurgitate with a little bit of academic claptrap and throw in a pinch of environmentalism and hey presto! Your a Messiah! Congratulations. Mr Patel is a t-shirt at a best (would not be as popular as Homer Simpson or Stewie Griffin though). No messiah here people. Please move on. Talk about low expectations for a world saviour. Sheesh!

  21. Raj Patel is Lucifer and Benjamin Creme is the AntiChrist, the False Prophet, because he wants to sell us his false God: Satan/Lucifer.

Turn to God and to the Quran and stop your own unjustice, if you think about it, you’ll realize that your current pain is only due to you and not to the society.

Lucifer wants to freeze us in our current state of Perdition and Sins, in his fake illusion paradise, until the Punishment of God comes.

The real danger which awaits us is just from God: The release of the Demons, the Total destruction of Humanity and the Judgement Day, that’s what shall concern you.

    Think about your Redemption!

  22. Guess it must be fun to be mistaken for the Antichrist. A little bit of exposure amongst the uneducated masses huh?

But you’re not the Antichrist. You’re just a Fabian socialist, who thinks everyone but your clique of internationalist oligarchics must live under soviet-type slavery.
You’re basically one of the many HG Wells of our days, actually. A propagandist, spreading the talking points of ‘socialism’ (it’s actually a more clever form of fascism) among the unwashed masses.
HG Wells (or George Bernard Shaw, another of his ilk) were actually brave enough to expose themselves for what they were, by suggesting people should be sent to concentration camps and gassed — although they always used the typical flowery speech Fabian socialists excel in.

Will you be that ‘brave’? Come on, show you’re worthy of your credentials, by suggesting something like:
(the following is my humble suggestion, a flowery and watered down one, Fabian style)
Β«for social equality and common welfare’s sake, those poor individuals who are seriously unadjusted to an healthy standard of communal living, those types who disrupt the communal balance of things, should be dispensed of by the community’s stakeholders through a type of painless treatment that will end their social and biological predicamentΒ».
    I dare you pal.

  23. Ever been to Las Vegas, NV.? we would love to hear you speak in person. Think about it.

    Monica

  24. my 2c’s is this:
i don’t really care if raj patel is or not maitreya, the thing is maitreya is not The Messiah.

  25. EVERYONE RAJ PATEL IS EITHER THE ANTI CHRIST, OR JUST A FALSE PROPHET TO GET OUR ATTENTION OFF THE TRUE ANTI CHRIST! RAJ U BETTER HURRY UP WITH THE DAY OF DECLARATION CUZ I WANNA SEE JESUS CHRIST KICK YOUR ASS, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! YOUR TIME IS ALMOST UP! LMAO!

  26. Maitreia does not exist except in yours and Creme’s imagination.
Whoever this Christ person was 2000 years ago, is now buried 6 feet under somewhere.

  27. I’m not sure why ANYONE would jump all over Raj Patel, and accuse him of being the fictional “antichrist”, or a “false prophet”, or even “Lucifer”.

Here’s Raj Patel, a nice guy, average in many ways, but brighter than average in many ways, writing some books and making some appearances, with beliefs in various fields (economics, ecology, social structure, etc.)–normal stuff. I’ve seen him interviewed on TV several times, and he seems like a normal guy with some sensible ideas. I haven’t heard all his ideas, so I don’t know how “Marxist” he is. You can disagree with his politics, etc., but he seems like a regular and bright guy, and not someone sinister. Then one day, somebody named Benjamin Creme implies that Patel is probably his “Maitreya”/messiah, something Patel didn’t ask for, and which came out of the blue at him–and suddenly Patel has a bunch of hot-heads accusing him of being the antichrist, or even Lucifer, or simply a “bad” person, just because Creme, with his screwy religious ideas, has fingered him as being Theosophy’s messiah, simply due to some coincidences. I’ll say it again: Patel didn’t ask for this label–he didn’t bring it upon himself. He’s not even remotely part of Creme’s community, and he’s not a Theosophist. In the article Patel has written, on this page, he tries to humorously dismiss this incident. But some people posting comments here seem to have ignored this article, and instead are posting hostile nonsense, trying to convince people they “REALLY” know what’s going on.

People who believe in a fictional “antichrist”, need to do some more research (outside the Bible) on the meaning of Revelation, as intended by its author. The short summary is that it was meant to apply to events happening at the time it was written, and referred to Rome, and the hoped-for manner in which Rome would be defeated. Rome’s defeat happened differently–Rome and Christianity merged instead of one or the other “winning”, with the top-down structure of Rome being imposed on Christianity–but at least Rome stopped killing as many Christians as it had been.

  28. Reading these comments has me LMFAO. Not a mirth of humor, but one of great triumphant joy, cause I am proud to see my fellow Christain crusadors. Is this guy the antichrist? At this moment I’m not convinced, because the antichrist will have the soolutions for the world problems. What this guy preaches are no solution, but adding flames to the fire. But then again, he IS the great deciever. Is he the antichrist? To me at this point its 50/50. BTW, do some research and understand that capitalism has not caused this crisis, satanic Marxist elitists pulling the strings have purposely done this. As for the so called “stars” as signs. Holograms.

  29. Hi Raj,

I hope you’re being careful. There are also now people that think you’re the Anti-Christ. I’d never heard of you before today; I must have missed your January appearance on The Colbert Report, which I watch most every day.

It’s very weird to me, the coincidences that let me to writing this to you right now. I just happened to be skimming through someone’s else’s book today, “The Secret History of the World,” by Jonathan Black. The book annoyed me because the language and ideas are intriguing but totally unconnected and absolutely none of his facts are referenced. It seems to me the ravings of a fascinating graphomaniac that someone decided to publish.

However, my eye was drawn to a certain passage (perhaps because I consider myself to be a writer) in the 550-page book. It’s on page 539.

“And just as Lucifer incarnated so too Satan will incarnate. He will do so as a writer. His aim will be to destroy spirituality by ‘explaining it away’. He will have the ability to create supernatural events, but then know how to give them a reductively scientific explanation. At first he will appear to be a great benefactor of humankind, a genius. To begin with he himself may not realize he is the Anti-Christ, believing he acts only out of love for humanity. He will do away with much dangerous superstition and work to unite the religions of the world. However, there will come a moment of pride, when he realizes he is achieving some things that Jesus Christ was, apparently, unable to achieve. He will then become aware of his identity and his mission.”

I then watched the March 15 episode of the Colbert Report and heard Stephen talk about the powers of the “Colbert bump” and how now you, a former guest of his, is being hailed as Maitreya. I’ve heard of Maitreya before and seen posters for Benjamin Creme’s talks both in California and the Netherlands. Stephen reported that Benjamin Creme prophesied that Maitreya would be “a writer.”

This clanged all kinds of bells in my head, and I went and found the passage. Then started Googling Raj Patel Maitreya Anti-Christ and all kinds of crazy things came up.

So what do you think? Are you a Satanic sleeper agent? Or a Cylon? Such an effing weird world…

You see like a nice guy who really wants to make the world a better place. I hope you’re not a sleeper agent of the bringer of the apocalyse! And I hope you realize that you probably need protection from some crazies out there. And they are.

  30. i think …and it’s my idea, the antechrist ( HITLER and STALINE who kills millions of persons and they are all the christ are not.) as past.

So i don’t know if he is or not Maitreya but the antechrist no.( we can’t compare Raj to Hitler does! for exemple) so be cool with him guys he is human like us.
And Raj said he is not!

  31. Babylon will hold fast to that which she has taken.
She won’t fall until brought down by the servants of wrath.
She shall be laid flat and burned by an infernal weapon.

After, The Sixth Seal will be opened by The Christ.
The servants of wrath bring judgment on their own shrines.
The shrine of Pharaoh Khaba shall be brought down.
There is but one Christ and He shall be made clear.

The Wrath of God shall be exposed for what he is.
Satan accuses Creation and seeks its destruction
he hopes to control during the time he is released.

  32. If you’re the Antichrist, can I at least be one of your inner circle? I’d probably betray you as my deep morals dictate, but whatever. It would at least be interesting.

I’m a 20 year old agnostic theist politically moderate university student of political science, so I’m a far cry from the either the fundamentalists or the environmental activists posting here – but I do keep much of my attention onto alternative news and theories of all sorts. I find this fascinating, and kind of funny, as even if you say “I am not Maitreya!”, it just fits into the idea of Maitreya.

Oh well – if the world is truly managed by a cabal of luciferian elites just frothing at the mouth of a new world order in every aspect, then at least I had some advance warning via media.

If not, as it is more likely to be the case, then at least I exercised my mind of alternative possibilities, and that’s always a good trait to have!

  33. Seriously, some of you on here need to relax. The proclamation about Raj Patel being the messiah was made on the Stephen Colbert Report…if you’ve never seen it, its a highly satirical show.

Mainly, Colbert took the predictions from share international and connected the dots to say he was Maitreya, in a rather tongue-in-cheek way. I am not sure if he is the one who connected the dots, but I will say that I checked the Share-International web-site and there isn’t a single mention of Patel. Patel didn’t appear ask for this and – although I am sure it is good publicity for his book – will probably wish it hadn’t happened at some point.

To heap any venom towards this poor guy (i.e. “Raj means King, Raj you are the 4th King, the deceiver, don’t even try to justify yourself, it’s now obvious that whether you are Maitreya or not, you are a not a good guy.”, etc.) is pretty unwarrented in my book.

  34. I don’t know whether Raj is or will be that allegedly existing person called β€œMaitreya”.

Nobody knows, but many claim to know, and some of them have voiced their convictions here in a frighteningly insulting and hostile way. THAT definitely is a sign that we ‘re living in the last days!

There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power.
    – 2 Timothy 3:1-5
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
    – Matthew 24:12

Okay, some things Benjamin Creme has said about Maitreya seem to fit. But don’t forget: Creme is a New Ager, so why believe ANYthing he says?

Meanwhile I came to the conclusion that it’s not really important to know the antichrist. It’s important to know Jesus Christ.

And if we know and love Him, than He will also make us able to recognize an (or even the) antichrist – if this will be necessary at all.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me.
    – John 10:27

So dears, let’s focus on Jesus and let us not be distracted.

  35. woa!!! there’s a whole lotta CRAZY going on here with these comments! a sign of the times, i guess. anyway, i just wanted to say, all this “controversy” has served a useful purpose for me. my usual and customery response to the topics discussed in your latest book would be an immediate sense of compelling fascination. followed by an equally immediate impulse to bury my head in the sand– thinking the world is too far gone (to hell in a handbasket). being glad i don’t have kids to face such a dystopian future. and pretty much giving up on the idea that evolution or revolution would prevail in my lifetime. but those CRAZIES here on your blog, they actually have given me the inspiration to get a couple copies of your books on amazon.com tonight. it is my earnest wish that i will actually read and complete the book during this year of our Lord, 2010. i’ll see about the rest after i have read your words. so mote it be! πŸ˜‰

  36. Holy moly, Raj is just a decent bloke. All you Dajal/Antichrist fascist-fundamentalists are nuts to think Raj is anything else. In fact it is the monotheistic fundamentalists seduced by MAMMON who best fit the disciples of the Antichrist.

  37. wow Raj people are really starting to scare me which is why I haven’t come forward until now. Everybody knows that Benny Hinn is the Antichrist and it mystifies me why you are the target. The problem is really that no-one really believes in God or they would change the way they are. Belief is dangerous as this situation demonstrates. Knowledge is the key. When you know God everything else falls into place. People should stop looking for the messiah and start looking for God which can be found just about everywhere really. Start with your garden.
    Cheers
